Whiter teeth
There’s nothing worse than stained teeth – always covering up your mouth in photos and feeling really self-conscious when you smile. Discolouration has two main causes - staining and ageing. There’s several ways you can reduce staining - try going easy on the coffee and red wine to start with. Smoking, though, is the worst culprit – if you smoke, it’ll show on your teeth. Proper teeth cleaning (don’t forget to floss!) will keep the worst staining at bay and protect your tooth enamel, but if you add a whitening toothpaste and mouthwash, too, you’ll freshen up and brighten your teeth pretty fast. Now, over to ageing. As you get older, however careful you are, you will naturally lose some whiteness. This is because your dentine (the layer underneath the enamel) gradually darkens with age and this shows through the enamel. Once again, good oral hygiene and a regular whitening regime will keep your teeth looking healthier and stain-free, but to take your tooth colour some way back to how it was when you were younger, whitening programmes are the best solutions.
