Scalps that itch and flake
One thing people always tell me - itchy scalps and dandruff are embarrassing - it’s hard not to scratch and you feel like everyone’s watching when you do. There are loads of reasons why you get an itchy scalp and dandruff, and the good news is many of them are treatable with the right products and a bit of extra care. Every day our body sheds millions of dead skin cells. Dandruff is the result of disturbance in this normal process, which can be caused by many factors, but the usual culprits are stress-related or environmental. In most cases, I’d recommend a good anti-dandruff shampoo used a couple of times a week. Hot oil treatments and specially formulated moisturising products can also help. There are a few no-nos worth remembering, too. Take a break from the pool, don’t over-wash your hair, don’t use shower gels or other products if you run out of shampoo and, finally, take a look at your diet. A healthy diet means healthier hair and scalp.
