Are you the sensitive type?

Lots of people tell me that they have sensitive skin but they’re not all of a single skin type. Instead it’s more of a sign of poor skin condition. So, you can have oily, normal, dry or combination skin that’s sensitive, too. In fact, symptoms of sensitive skin cover a multitude of indicators from itchy, dry and flaky to tight, red, stinging and spotty. One of the most common complaints is that skin occasionally breaks out in one of these ways – making it even more infuriating. The causes behind these symptoms are also broad; harsh detergents, environmental conditions and stress can all trigger a reaction while some foods and drinks can cause our skin to flare from the inside, too. In all cases the best approach is to keep things simple - soothe and protect the skin by avoiding strong detergents and products containing soap (as they dry the skin out) as well as massaging in indulgent moisturisers free from potential irritants such as fragrance. Our research has also shown that extra UV protection can help reduce any flare-ups associated with sun exposure.
