Methods of Hair Removal
Body hair and facial hair grows at rate of approximately 1.0mm every 3 days. The reason it never gets as long as scalp hair is because it grows in cycles. The growing phase (which lasts about 90days), is followed by the resting phase (which lasts about 10days) which is followed by the shedding phase (which lasts about 100days) during which a new hair starts to appear.
The different types of hair removal can be split into those that are called Permanent and those that are called Temporary. Permanent treatments e.g. laser treatments try to damage the hair follicles so that they don't produce any more hairs. Temporary treatments subdivide into those that treat the hair above the surface e.g. depilatory creams, and those that attempt to pull the hair out at the root - ouch! Making the hair start growing all over again. Over the next few weeks I'll cover the different types of treatment in more detail.
