Stain control

Leaving the dentist with stain-free teeth, after a thorough clean and polish from the hygienist, feels great -your teeth look good and feel good. How many of us then see the stain return over the following weeks and months, as we continue with our normal diet of food and drink ? We can all prolong the effects of that visit to the dentist by using a regime of products designed to remove and control new stain. The proper use of a toothbrush (manual or electric), along with a toothpaste with high cleaning power, to get to all accessible areas of the teeth, together with the use of interdental cleaning aids, such as tiny brushes, floss or tape, is a great start. Followed up with a whitening mouthwash, you'll be giving your teeth a thorough anti-stain treatment - the result a white, bright smile.

Stain can form anywhere on your teeth, but can get concentrated in areas that you don't brush regularly, or in areas where tartar/calculus can build up. Tartar is a hard deposit that forms from some of the components precipitating out of saliva, which can then attract new stain. Using a toothpaste with ingredients to remove stain, but also control the build-up of tartar, will help limit the buildup of new stain. The new Boots Expert Stain Control toothpaste contains a high-cleaning abrasive system, and also includes a novel agent to reduce the formation of tartar. Recent clinical studies have shown reduced stain build-up months after volunteers had their teeth professionally cleaned, compared to a standard toothpaste.
