Hairy situations

There are loads of things to get used to when your newborn arrives, but one thing you don’t want to be worrying about is hair loss. After pregnancy, many new mums find that their hair falls out faster than usual. Some worry that this will cause their hair to thin or even leave them with bald spots, but there’s no need to panic, as it’s quite normal.

Every two or three months some of your hair will fall out to make way for new hair to grow, but when you’re pregnant, hormone changes mean that this happens less frequently, so you end up with more hair (which is why many women feel their hair gets thicker and more luscious during pregnancy!). Once you’ve had your baby, this extra hair falls out, meaning that your hair just returns to its normal pre-pregnancy state – it doesn’t actually get thinner. But if you feel that your hair needs a thickening boost, Boots Expert Post-Pregnancy Volumising Shampoo and Conditioners are great.
