Causes of staining
Posted on 13th April at 01:35 PM Posted by: Ian Marlow
Staining on the outer surfaces of your teeth is caused primarily by contents of your diet interacting with proteins in your saliva coating your teeth. The extent of any staining could be different for you compared to others due to the state of your teeth, the contents of your saliva, your diet, whether you smoke and your normal rate of tartar formation. These factors can result in a variety of colours, intensities and location of stain, which can work its way into the upper layers of enamel, if left alone. If you want to just get your teeth back to their natural colour by keeping these external stains at bay, use of whitening paste with high stain removing power and a mouthwash to reduce new stain adherance can really help.
