Warm weather and irritated scalps

Posted on 13th April at 02:17 PM Posted by: Stewart Long

Our scalps are affected by the seasons and the amount of itching, flaking and discomfort you may experience is likely to be different at differeing times of the year. During the winter, the low humidity and cold can lead to tight, itching scalps. However, people do not always realise that warm weathercan have an adverse affect on sensitive scalps too. The salt in sweat can irritate the scalp and of course, hair that is thinning leaves the scalp prone to sunburn in hot, sunny weather. During these pleasantly warm times, make sure that you minimise sun exposure to scalps and wash frequently with mild, soothing products to reduce sweat accumulation and reduce irritation.  I am often asked about what can be done for thinning hair and general advice is to use a thickening/ volumising product to give the feeling of thickness back, or consider seeking advice from a pharmacist regarding hair loss solutions that may be appropriate for you.

itchy scalp

Posted on 16th July at 02:53 PM Posted by: joan keating

I have had a very itchy scalp for several months now - I don’t have any flakiness.

At first I thought I had become allergic to the Clinique shampoo I used to use, as they added fragrance to it last year.  But it is 2 months since I used it now and it is still pretty bad.

I use just Simple shampoo and conditioner, and so it is not hair products which is the problem.  Has anyone any ideas?
