Waxing - Hot or Cold

After the permanent methods waxing is the treatment that lasts the longest. Hairs are trapped in a layer of wax and yanked out from he root as the wax is pulled away from the skin. Generally speaking people find the rate of re-growth of new hairs and hairs not long enough to be caught in the wax means monthly treatments rather than the weekly shave or use of depilatory creams. Whether you believe hot waxing is better than cold waxing depend largely on whether you can afford a professional hot wax. Home hot wax can be more fiddly and you need to be careful not to over heat the wax particularly if using a microwave. The experienced beautician will get on with the job, pull the skin more taught when removing the wax strips etc. Hot wax flows around the hair giving a better grip so you are less likely to have to over the same area twice but the final result with cold wax is just the same.

I have heard stories about infection caused by sharing non sterile wax from pots and spatulas taking infection from the client to the pot. Is this really risky and how can I be sure not to get an infection?

i use to wax quite frequently but i kept getting ingrown hairs and really painful swollen red spots. i decided to stop waxing to let the hair grow in and the spots calm but they haven’t gone yet and im getting left with tiny scars where the spots were. i was wondering if you knew why i got the spots and how to clear them up, ive tried tea tree oil but it hasn’t been working.
just wondering

i was reading the methods of hair removal faq’s, one of the questions was that does shaving make your hair grow back darker? the fact given was that it does not grow back darker, well i no that everyone’s body is different, but i had few friends including me, that we had fine hair and light hair before we started shaving and then gradually it got thicker and darker.
this letter is not a argument or anything just wanted to know really, because children do have fine hair until they start shaving. i have friends who have waxed and there hairs have always stayed fine and not grown back darker and friends that have shaved and their hairs grow back thicker, darker and spiky.

Posted on 23rd June at 01:54 PM Posted by: Lu
ok i know this may sound like i’m way self-conscious but, well maybe iam anyway, i’m 13 and i wax and i was wondering: how much longer do i have to wax till the hairs stop growing? or is the “hair will stop growing after waxing a few times” bit not true at all? help appreciated! thanks
